Are you attempting a full deck? If so decrease the number of cards untill you are able to consistantly start them with little trouble, and build up from there. Keep at it, it'll come.
Well, I am up to 40 cards. I start them with the cards vertical. One hand on top one on the bottom. But I can't finish them like this. All I can do is start them. I then hold them Horz thin side up with my first 2 fingers of my left hand holding the left side and the first 2 of the right hand holding the the other way.I know ,weird.
40 cards is a good progression, you'll be there before you know it. Your grip sounds a little different, nothing wrong with it - just different. If that is the style that works best for you, great.

Cool tear Chris. I have never seen one like this.Mini decks , sure but not the way you did this one. Nice !
Thanks Harlan.
I can't seem to get a good start on mine. Once it is started I can go threw them , but that initial tear is giving me a hard time.
